My recent favorite artist is Son Dam Bi who debuted in 2007 with the single “Cry Eye”. She was labeled as the female “Rain”. Not only does she have a powerful voice, she can also dance. I think she is also very pretty.

Prior to her debut, Son Dam Bi appeared in music videos for Paran and MYV, as well as various advertisements. She first came to fame in a commercial for an MP3 player. Before her debut in 2007, MSN Japan made a video documentary, recording her pre-debut training and rehearsals. The documentary was very popular, attracting 480 000 visitors in 5 days.

After her successful debut in 2007, Dambi went to train in the States. She returned to Korea and released her first mini-album at the end of April, “Son Dambi Mini Album Vol.1” with a focus on electronica rather than her previous style of crunk popI like her hit song “Bad Boy”, however it wasn’t very popular.

In September 2008, Son Dam Bi returned with the single “미쳤어 (Crazy)”. I personally really enjoyed the song. The song also features a “chair dance” which became very popular in Korea.

Late 2008, Son Dam Bi joined MBC’s reality show “We Got Married”. As well, she released a mini-album with the single “On Saturday Night”. This song became her first #1 hit. More fame and success is definitely waiting for this rising star.
